Minolta Autopak 600-X Collectable Camera

Minolta Autopak 600-X Collectable Camera

Share

This very unusual and pretty rare camera dates back from around the early 1970s. It uses 126 cartridge films, which may be getting a little hard to come by now-so we consider this a collectors peice rather than a day to day camera to use for photography.

This Minolta Autopak has a cracking good lens on it, the Minolta ROKKOR 38mm f2.8 semi wide angle, a zone manual focus system on the side and manual wind with a magic-cube flash port on top.It has a bright line viewfinder , which is a little dusty now, and runs off a PX-640 battery-not supplied.

If you click on the image above, you can see a photo of the rear of the Autopak, which is made in Japan!

Like our Burns Of London guitars, the Danelectro range has been established way back in time but, but these guys are like the US version of the Burns! Founded in around 1947 in the USA, they originally supplied amps and other bits for retailers such as Sears and Montgomery Ward. Within a few years they went onto produce guitars, and the highly distinctive styling makes them recognisable straight away.

"Back in ’63 an odd-looking electric guitar burst onto the pages of the Sears catalogue.
Danelectro’s “model 1449” would soon become the rage of garage bands and pros alike.
Why? One reason was tone. Danelectro’s pickups, ingeniously housed in lipstick tubes, quickly became known for their “signature twang”. The guitar bodies were lightweight and featured a hollow inner chamber which made them sonically “alive”… unlike traditional solid bodies."

Fast forward forty-five years…Danelectro re-issues this prized guitar…calling it the “Dano 63”.
Our first task in bringing back this great guitar was to replicate the 60’s era Lipstick pickups. That meant acquiring dozens of old Lipsticks and tearing them apart to uncover their “secrets”. The resulting reissue pickups are hot and sweet and sonically accurate to the originals.

Next we upgraded the tuners and bridges to make this guitar as fun to play as it is to listen to.
And to make it just as fun to look at, we combed old paint archives for just the right “retro” colors to capture the soul and spirit of this great guitar. We then plated all the hardware with “zero gloss” nickel. "

So, it has a double cutaway semi solid body with a maple bolted on neck. There is a hardtail bridge system, with adjustable saddles, and the machine heads are sealed to keep the grit out-both finished in the accurate zero gloss nickel.

There are 22 frets, and it has a manageable scale length of 30 inches.

The two Dano lipstick pickups are single coil, controlled with a single volume and tone w/ 3-way toggle pickup selector. Down the edge there is a rather unusual but accurate vinyl binding tape, which like other parts of this re-issued are stained for aged appearance. (Don't be alarmed by this-it is made like that!)

Currently only made in the lovely redburst finish you see on your left.

If you are looking for a superb bass, that sounds different and looks even more different then this is the one.
