The Tenor Banjo is a very popular instruments, especially in the traditional Irish and jazz styles. The tenor banjo has a shorter scale than the 'G' banjo, the four stings on the banjo are tuned CGDA, but it is not uncommon for the bango to be re-tuned down to GDAE using thicker strings, this is often evident when the banjo is used for traditional Irish Music.
